Becoming an author

Welcome to the Deborah O'Ferry website. It's a lovely position to be in to have a need to create a website and assign the word Author to it, so thank you for visiting!

The author title has been openly thrown around, often like it's a new thing for me. But what makes an author, an author? Is it when a publishing house offer's them a contract? Is it when they make a best seller list? Is it when they produce their own book? When they sell a book? Did they become one when they created a secret file on their laptop and started a tale that took over their world? Or, did it start when they were 8-years-old and wrote an 11-page 'book' and told people they wanted to be an author?

We all would have a different view, but I think starting 500 Miles, and committing to it, made me an author and it's a title I own proudly.
